DERMAPEN MICRO-NEEDLING WITH PRP

Micro-needling is a procedure using a small "pen-like" tool equipped with micro needles with can create thousands of microscopic channels or " micro-injuries" over the patient's skin.

These channels become a fertile ground for the topical application of PRP (Platelet-Rich Plasma) which contains hundreds of proteins called "growth factors" that stimulate healing, skin repair and regeneration. When combined with micro-needling, PRP stimulates collagen and elastin production in the skin.

Patients who receive micro-needling treatments report improvements with:

We will draw a small sample of the patient's blood and place it in a "centrifuge" (a small piece of equipment that will spin the blood.) This process will separate the platelets and the white blood cells from the red blood cells. The resulting combination of platelets and white blood cells (liquid plasma) combine to form PRP.

While the term "Vampire Facial" is a trademark term used by the doctor who treated Kim Kardashian, the procedure itself is essentially the same.

Micro-needling with PRP does involve drawing the patient's blood. However, that blood is not directly applied to the skin as seen in viral footage of Kim Kardashian on television. At Medicine of Orange County, we will use your blood to create PRP which will take on a more golden or clear look. This natural serum will then be applied to your face during the micro needling session.

When you come to our office, we will seat you in the comfortable atmosphere of our IV Therapy Room where we will draw blood and begin the process of "spinning" it to create PRP. While you wait, you can enjoy a complimentary IV Vitamin Nutrient Therapy, which among other vitamins and minerals contains Vitamin C that will help hydrate and rejuvenate your skin. The IV will also include Flutathione which will brighten your skin as well as assist in the production of collagen. This portion of your visit will take approximately 45 minutes.

We will then guide you to one of our private rooms for your micro-needling procedure. This treatment will take approximately 15 minutes.

We recommend a treatment plan of at least 5 visits for optimal results. We will space your treatments out over 2 to 4 week intervals, depending on the depth of the treatments.
